D S Rao is a senior HR leader, facilitator and thinker. He currently works as Executive Director at NTPC Limited leading the L&D team from its training headquarters at Power Management Institute, Noida.

In past, he has lead NTPC teams as the Head of Center of Excellence-Strategic HR and Talent Management Division, Head of Corporate Policy Division, Performance Management and Human Resource Development, Head of HR Operations and Services including Employee Establishment, Industrial Relations, Land Acquisition and Boundary Management.

In his tenure of 36 years with NTPC, India’s leading Power Conglomerate and Maharatna, he has led HR teams at Vindhyachal, Kawas, Korba, Talcher, Barh, Simhadri and New Delhi.

Under his leadership, NTPC L&D has won internationally acclaimed laurels like ATD BEST Awards 2019 and 2020, Brandon Hall Group Award 2019 for “Best Use of Blended Learning Category”, The Dun & Bradstreet Infra Award-2019, BML Munjal Award 2019 and 2020 and ISTD Award consecutively for 2017, 2018 and 2019 for best innovative practices.

Rao has been trained in HR key areas from Harvard Business School, The Wharton School, Asian Institute of Management and ISTD wherein he was exposed to globally acknowledged best practices in leadership and culture building. He is also certified CII Assessor and licensed Coach.
